- IDRC's CBNRM Social Sciences Resource Kit was developed as a reference tool to assist researchers funded through IDRC's CBNRM program in Asia to apply concepts, analytical approaches and research methods from the social sciences in their research. The kit was originally prepared as a set of hard copy resource books each dealing with a different key issue area related to CBNRM research. As much as possible of the Resource Kit was made available in mid-2000 through the IDRC web site. Content: Gender; Community-Based Natural Resource Management; Participatory Research; Indigenous Knowledge; Institutional Analysis; Common Property; Stakeholder Analysis; Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation; and Resource Tenure. The resource books contain references to selected readings excerpted from books, academic journals, field reports and training manuals. Depending on the subject, the readings include conceptual and methodological issues, research tools, and illustrative case studies. Because of copyright laws, electronic versions of the readings in the Resource Kit are not included; however, citations for each reading are included. Each source book also includes an annotated bibliography, a list of references, and information on electronic (internet) resources. Instructions on how to use the Centre's literature search and document delivery services (free to IDRC funded institutions) are also provided. URL: The CBNRM Social Science Resource Kit.
