Date: September 2008 (tentative). Story: Meetings with Foundation of Speleology; in Sucheava, Romania. The purpose will be discussions of the partnership between the Foundation and Supras, and more specifically preparation of a joint project proposal.
Date: 3-5 July 2008. Story: Networking visit to Association for the Support of Economic Development and Economic Integration (ASEDEI); in Varna, Bulgaria. The purpose was discussions of the partnership between ASEDEI and Supras.
Date: 1 July 2008. Story: The official launch of the NGO Fund for Bulgaria, under the EEA Financial Mechanism; in Sofia, Bulgaria. Organized by Foundation for Local Government Reform (FLGR) and Bulgarian Environmental Partnership Foundation (BEPF), jointly with Royal Norwegian Embassy. The workshop provided opportunities for networking between representatives of civil society in Bulgaria and Norway.

Story: Launch of a networking website for Norwegian organizations and institutions in public sector, private sector and civil society that are involved with EEA Financial Mechanism / Norwegian Financial Mechanism. The website is the result of a partnership between Community-Based Natural Resource Management Network (CBNRM Net), Norwegian Association for Adult Learning (NAAL) and Supras Consult. [access]

Date: 6 May 2008. Story: Funding received for the project “Support for Local Initiatives.” This is a joint project of Inštitut za politike prostora (Institute for Policies of Space), Ljubljana, Slovenia and Supras.

Organized by Norwegian Helsinki Committee and EEA Financial Mechanism / Norwegian Financial Mechanism. The workshop provided opportunities for networking and exchange of experiences between representatives of civil society in a number of the recipient countries, as well as in Norway.

Date: 30 January 2008. Story: The official launch of the NGO Fund for Slovenia under the EEA Financial Mechanism; in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Organized by Regional Environment Centre for Central and Eastern Europe, Country Office Slovenia (REC). The workshop provided opportunities for networking between representatives of civil society in Slovenia and Norway.
Comment: EEA Financial Mechanism / Norwegian Financial Mechanism aim to reduce social and economic disparities within the European Economic Area (EEA), and to enable all EEA countries to participate fully in the Internal Market. See also NGO Norway Information Portal.

2007

Date: 30 December 2007. Story: Brief end-of-year report: More than 300 major web sites devoted to a broad suite of concerns with local management of natural resources, managed by the public sector, private sector and civil society, and as located throughout the world, are now available. CBNRM Net is now the de facto most visited site when it comes to information about CBNRM and related approaches, knowledge, and experiences.
Date: 22-23 November 2007. Story: Civil society conference on “Good citizenship – A project or lifestyle?;” in Tallinn, Estonia. Organized by Network of Estonian Nonprofit Organizations (NENO). The conference included the official launch of the NGO Fund under the EEA Financial Mechanism for Estonia, and provided opportunities for networking between representatives of civil society in Estonia and Norway.
Comment: The EEA Financial Mechanism / Norwegian Financial Mechanism aim to reduce social and economic disparities within the European Economic Area (EEA), and to enable all EEA countries to participate fully in the Internal Market. See also the NGO Norway Information Portal.

Description: Analysis of selected CBNRM resource centers to illustrate key messages concerning their purpose, structure, function, and sustainability. Comments: CBNRM Net is one of the resource centres presented and analyzed (based on information submitted earlier in the year - see below). Among other observations, the report makes the key point that CBNRM Net is a “distributed network.”
