Global
- The Reef Check Foundation. Description/Function/Activities: Scuba divers and snorkelers in over 50 countries monitors the health of coral reefs. Produces an annual report on the state of the world's reefs. Does public education campaigns on the value of coral reefs. Provides tools for local communities to manage and protect their coral reefs. - GTZ, Sector Network Rural Development, Africa (SNRD). Description/Function/Activities: This is an organized form of information exchange and cooperation, managed from Pretoria, South Africa, between projects in Africa with formal contact to GTZ (German Technical Cooperation). The stakeholders that are part of the network include institutions in the area of development cooperation, local and international consultants, universities, NGOs and donor organizations. Launched in 1995, the membership currently comprise of 64 projects and over 120 members. Members and projects are currently located in the following countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d'Ivoire, Cameroon, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe (in addition comes German based supra-regional projects). SNRD operates working groups for areas of special focus, one of which, "Management of natural resources", addresses CBNRM and forestry. SNRD runs training courses on collaborative wildlife, park and buffer zone management and related topics. A new training topic is organizational development.
