- HIV/AIDS trheatens protected area and natural resource management through: (1) Loss of capacity, skills and knowledge, (2) Changes in community demand for and use of natural resources, and (3) Diversion of conservation funds for AIDS associated costs,
- Illness and death of staff mean: (1) Higher absenteeism, (2) Lower productivity, (3) Higher recruitment and training costs, and (4) Loss of skills and experience,
