Literature, Background
Introduction
Category Literature includes different types of CBNRM and CBNRM-related literature, including reports, evaluations, papers and project documents, articles in periodicals, articles in books, and books. Other types of literature covered include bulletins, articles in newspapers, pamphlets and reviews. The emphasis is on literature on CBNRM and related areas of focus and investigation. All relevant literature by CBNRM Net members are included. In geographic terms preference is given to developing countries and countries in transition. The entries are partly annotated. Keywords are included where necessary, and URLs when available. Literature is added as it is submitted by CBNRM Net members and others, or otherwise becomes available.
Several documents are listed also elsewhere, including in CBNRM Net Newsletters (see Category CBNRM Net Newsletters), CBNRM Net Papers (see Category CBNRM Net Papers), material in CBNRM Net's archive (see Category Archive), case studies (see Category Case studies), sources used in preparing Category Acronyms and abbreviations, sources used in preparing Category Terminology, as well as in Section Webhosting. Various documents connected with the administration of CBNRM Net are available also elsewhere, including CBNRM Net's Register of Members (see Category Register of Members), guidance on preparing CBNRM knowledge for CBNRM Net, and the Membership Application Form (see Section Support).
While the published literature is fairly easily accessible, this is not the case with the very large and growing grey literature. This literature is produced more or less informally, typically in the context of specific projects and research studies, as well as papers submitted to and/or presented at conferences and workshops (many of the latter can be classified as case studies, see Category Case studies). While this literature in many cases are posted on relevant web sites, it is usually deleted after some time, typically upon closure of the project or activity. CBNRM Net gives major emphasis to collecting and making such unpublished grey literature available on its web site.
New literature in this Category is regularly listed and featured in the CBNRM Net Newsletter, together with author contact information and download links when available (see Category CBNRM Net Newsletters).
Most of the literature listed can be downloaded in PDF format from the CBNRM Net web site (see Category Documents), together with additional information, including links to relevant pages on the CBNRM Net web site and third party web sites, and description of the content. Access to Category Documents and several pages other pages listed above is restricted to CBNRM Net's Contributing Members (details on membership is available here).
